MURRAY OSTROM RITES AT HARTWICK SATURDAY

Funeral services were held at the Hartwick Congregational church on Feb. 7, at 2:30 p.m. for Murray A. Ostrom, with the Rev. Byron Northrop of Baxter in charge. Mrs. Harold Carlson and Mrs. Calvin Korns sang several duets.

Pall bearers, nephews of the deceased, were : Guy and George Dixon, Charles and Fred J. Ostrom and Ray and Percy Ostrom. Burial was at the Hartwick cemetery.

Hartwick lost one of its lifetime residents when Murray A. Ostrom died Feb. 6, at 7:30 a.m. at the St. Francis hospital in Grinnell. Death was due to a heart attack. Although he had been ailing for several months he had never been bedfast and his death came as a shock to his relatives and friends.

The deceased was the son of George and Margaret Ostrom, born July 12, 1861, in Illinois. He with his parents moved to Hartwick, Ia., in 1867 where the family became farmers and which occupation he followed until 36 years ago when he retired and moved to the town of Hartwick where he has made his home with his sister, Mary Ormiston. He was never married. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by two brothers, Arthur and Fred, both of Hartwick, two sisters, Mary Ormiston and Mrs. Jennie Dixon, also both of Hartwick, besides several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Dayton, Mr. and Mrs. C.P. Williamson and sons, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fitch, all of Brooklyn.
