RAY L. OSTROM

Funeral services for Ray L. Ostrom of Hartwick, Iowa were held on Saturday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at the McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home in Victor. Rev. Walter Martin, Interim Pastor of the Hartwick Congregational Church, officiated. Two organ selections "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Home" were played by Mrs. Claire Erickson. In care of flowers were Mrs. George Williams and Mrs. Cecil Roberts.

Concluding services and burial were held at the Hartwick Cemetery with Elver Miller, Howard Olson, Kenenth Benda, Cecil Roberts, Bruce Ostrom and Wallace Roth serving as casket bearers.

Military rites at the graveside were conducted by members of the Harold Smith Post No. 54 of the Victor American Legion.

Ray L. Ostrom, the son of Grant L. and Sadie Whitlatch Ostrom, was born October 23, 1893 at Hartwick, Iowa and died at his home in Hartwick June 25, 1980.

He received his education in the rural schools in Poweshiek county, Iowa and lived his entire life in the Hartwick area with the exception of the time he served in the United States Army in France during World War I.

Mr. Ostrom was a long-time businessman in Hartwick, and had been a member of the Harold Smith Post No. 54 of the Victor American Legion for over 60 years. He had also enjoyed bowling on a Belle Plaine bowling team for many years.

On May 26, 1948 he was united in marriage to Lucille Myers Dusterhoft at Montezuma, Iowa. She died November 13, 1965. He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

Mr. Ostrom is survived by his sister--Grace, Mrs. Freeman Dayton and his brother--Percy Ostrom both of Brooklyn.
