GRACE O. DAYTON

Grace Ostrom Dayton, daughter of Grant Ostrom and Ada Doty Ostrom, was born April 10, 1904, on a farm near Hartwick.

Mrs. Grace Dayton, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Brookhaven Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Dayton were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, in the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Rev. William B. Daylong, Pastor, officiated. The organist was Colleen Price and the soloist was Calvin Roudabush. Special selections were "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Flower attendants were Kay Ostrom, Laura Hall, and Lois Van Ersvelde.

Casket-bearers were Stephen Dayton, Gaylon Dayton, Ronald Miller, Keith Little, David Jermier, and Richard Hammer. Interment was in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established and may be left with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home.

Grace Ostrom Dayton, daughter of Grant Ostrom and Ada Doty Ostrom was born April 10, 1904, on a farm north of Hartwick.

Mrs. Dayton received her education in a country school and the Brooklyn High School. On Feb. 14, 1922, she was married to Freeman Egbert Dayton in the home of her mother in Brooklyn. They operated dairy farms in Poweshiek County including many years at Deep River. They retired and moved into Brooklyn in 1967.

Mrs. Dayton was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Miriam and Robert Little of Brooklyn and Norma and Earl Allen of Montezuma; one son and his wife, Larry and Anna Grace Dayton of Brooklyn; one step-sister, Mrs. Verna Behounek of Grinnell; an aunt, Cora Johnston of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, four brothers, three step-brothers, one step-sister and one great grandson.
