MR. DAYTON SERVICES HELD

Freeman E. Dayton, 89, of Brooklyn died Thursday, Nov. 24, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn, with the Rev. Kalen K. Fristad, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn officiating.

Pallbearers were Stephen Dayton, Gaylon Dayton, Ronald Miller, Keith Little, David Jermier and Richard Hammer. Honorary bearers were Harold Carlsen, Robert Morgan and Ira Henry. Burial was in Brooklyn Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with Grace United Methodist Church.

He was born April 14, 1899, on the family farm west of Brooklyn, the son of Clark L. and Mabel Korns Dayton. He attended school in Brooklyn.

He was married to Grace Ostrom Feb. 14, 1922, in Brooklyn. Mr. Dayton was a farmer and dairyman in the Brooklyn area. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Grace; one son, Larry of Brooklyn; two daughters, Miriam Little of Brooklyn and Norma Allen of Montezuma; one brother, Ray K. of Malcom; a sister, Ruth Roudabush of Brooklyn; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene Audas; and one great-grandson.
