DELMAR HEISHMAN

Delmar Heishman, 90, of Brooklyn, was dead on arrival early Tuesday morning, Aug. 5, at Grinnell Hospital.

Funeral services for Heishman were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, in the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Dorie Hanson, pastor, officiated. The organist was Mrs. Marilyn Kriegel and special selections were "In The Garden" and "God Will Take Care of You."

Flower attendants were Mrs. Marilyn Collum, Mrs. Betty Lippincott and Mrs. Marian Otto. Honorary casketbearers were Earl Altemeier, Harold Beaderstadt, Giles Crider, Paul Gerard, Larry Gwin, Bill Kriegel and August Van Renterghem. Casketbearers were Tim Heishman, Kevin Heishman, Steve Heishman, Robert Collum, Dean Lippincott and Charles Calderwood. Interment was in the Brooklyn cemetery. The Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn, was in charge of arrangements.

Delmar Phillip Heishman, son of Gustus and Bette Miller Heishman, was born March 19, 1903 on a farm northeast of Brooklyn.

After completing his education in a rural school, Delmar farmed with his father near Brooklyn. On Jan. 12, 1926 he was united in marriage to Margaret Ostrom in Grinnell. They farmed mainly in the Brooklyn area and also farmed in the Guernsey and Deep River area. They farmed until 1972 when they moved into Brooklyn.

Delmar was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; four sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell (Marlene) Heishman of Brooklyn, Maynard Heishman of Brooklyn, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Mary Jo) Heishman of Hastings, Nebr. and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil (Mary Jane) Heishman of Brooklyn; one brother, Wayne Heishman of LaCrosse, Wisc.; one sister Evalena Dillon of Brooklyn; 1? grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
