Edith Staffanou of Webster City, formerly of Grinnell, passed away Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Johnson, at Newton.

Mr. and Mrs. Staffanou were at the Johnson home for the Thanksgiving holiday when she was stricken.

Mrs. Staffanou was born on Feb. 16, 1894, at Blakesburg, Ia., the daughter of William and Rosetta Smith Arnold. She attended the Blakesburg schools and in 1921 graduated from the Ottumwa Hospital School of Nursing.

On Nov. 19, 1925, she was united in marriage with Peter Staffanou at the Methodist church in Ottumwa. They made their home in Grinnell following their marriage. She was a nurse at both of the local hospitals, and for a number of years they have made their home in Webster City.

Mrs. Staffanou is survived by her husband, her daughter, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Johnson of Newton, her two grandchildren, Susan Jane and Randal Steven; her sisters, Mrs. R.E. (Alma) Daget of Williams, Ia., Mrs. H.H. (Anna) Siepert of Cedar Falls, Mrs. T.S. (Oral) Staffanou of Grinnell; her half-sister, Mrs. Warren (Vera) Proctor of Blakesburg, a half-brother, Wm. Arnold Jr., of Ottumwa, and her step-mother, Mrs. W.R. Arnold of Blakesburg.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother and one sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 29, at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Methodist church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
