FREDERICK VAN RENTERGHEM, 87

Frederick Van Renterghem, 87, of Brooklyn, died Friday night, January 6, 2006, at Brooklyn Community Estates, Brooklyn.

Funeral services for Fred Van Renterghem were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. The pastor, Rev. Brian Shepley, officiated and the musician was Marilyn Kriegel. Casket-bearers were Jerry Wauters, Bob Newton, Roger Van Renterghem, Glen Berry, Marvin Lynn and George Cowger.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

A memorial fund has been established.

Frederick Francis Van Renterghem was born July 24, 1918, on a farm north of Brooklyn. His parents were Henry Van Renterghem and Ramona VanDeWoestyne Van Renterghem.

Fred received his education in a rural school.

On January 2, 1939, Fred was married to Lois Greta Latcham at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. They were the parents of two children, Laird and John. Mrs. Van Renterghem died November 9, 2000.

Fred started farming as a youth in 1937 with a team of horses and they lived and farmed north of Brooklyn until his retirement.

Mr. Van Renterghem was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing the accordion, cards, rolle bolle, dancing, visiting with his friends and neighbors, and taking care of his livestock and dog, Jake. He was a loyal husband, loving father and good friend.

His parents; his wife, Lois; a son, Laird; a sister, Leona Newton; and a brother, August preceded him in death.

Surviving are his son, John Van Renterghem and wife, Vicki of Brooklyn; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Van Renterghem of Brooklyn; four grandchildren, Deb Inman, Phillip Van Renterghem, Nicole Stuart and Luke Mann; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
