JENNIE BITCON, 88, DIED THIS MORNING; RITES TO BE FRIDAY

A resident of Grinnell 85 years, Mrs. Jennie Bitcon, 88, of 809 Washington street, died at 5:45 a.m. today at a local hospital. She had suffered a broken hip on Nov. 7.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday at Smith funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W.F. Overhulser of the Methodist church. Burial will be in Pleasant township cemetery at Ewart.

Born Aug. 1, 1865, at Orient, Ill., Jennie Rutherford was the daughter of John Rutherford and Sarah White. She came to Grinnell at the age of 3.

Surviving are two sons, Harry Bitcon of Grinnell and William of Route 4, Grinnell; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Thompson of Grinnell. Mrs. Bitcon was preceded in death by her husband, James; a sister, Mrs. James McConaghie; and a brother, William H. Rutherford.

Mrs. Bitcon was a member of the Methodist church.

Her son, Harry, and wife were at her bedside when she passed away.
