GEORGE P. CLARK

George P. Clark, who died in this city on December 26, 1906, was born in Providence, N.Y., in 1851. He learned the trade of glove cutting at Gloversville, N.Y., where he was married to Miss Lillian Furgeson and came to Grinnell in 1892.

Here he was employed by Morrison, McIntosh & Co. till 1905 when ill health compelled him to find some employmnet that would take him more out of doors. After managing a pool hall in the city for some time he took up a claim near Murdo, S.D., about a year ago. He was however compelled by failing health to return to this city about two weeks ago where he died. The funeral services were held from the C.H. Kingdon residence Friday afternoon and were conducted by Prof. L.F. Parker.

The deceased was a very kindly man, good natured and thoughtful. He was very popular with his friends which included all those, young and old, who knew him. He always had a reputation for honesty and was regarded as a good neighbor, a kind husband and a good citizen. The glove factory was closed as a mark of respect during the hour that his funeral was held. His wife survives him to mourn his loss.
