NANCY JANE (WILSON) WESCO

Nancy Jane Wilson was born Dec. 2, 1841 in Butler County, Ohio, and passed away at her home near Newburg, Dec. 28, 1906, aged 65 yrs. and 26 days.

In the year 1866 she came with her parents to Grinnell, Ia., and was married to Reuben Wesco at Newton Dec. 24, 1866. After their marriage they went to Geneseo, Ill., remaining there until the year 1869 when they moved to their farm in Chester Twp., Poweshiek Co., Ia., where they have resided until her death.

She leaves a husband and three children, Frank N. of Chester, Mrs. Cora Bacon of Burt, Kossuth Co., Ia. and Mrs. Carrie Foster of Chester to mourn the loss of a faithful and devoted wife and mother.

The funeral services were conducted at her home Sunday at one p.m., by Rev. W.S. Kight of Salem, Ia., formerly pastor of the Sonora church.

Interment took place in the Chester cemetery.

Mrs. Wesco had been in poor health for a long time and had been kept confined to her bed for 22 weeks. What she has suffered and what there has been for her of trial and pain and weariness no one can know excepting the all wise Father, who in His infinite tenderness and mercy watches over each of His children. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her best, and to those of her immediate family will the loss be the hardest to bear. But sometime we shall understand that all is for the best, and in words of the poet we would say:

"And you shall shortly know that lengthened
breath

Is not the sweetest gift God sends his friend,

And that sometimes the sable pall of death

Conceals the fairest boon his love can send,

If we could push ajar the gates of life

And stand within and all God's working see,

We could interpret all this doubt and strife

And for each mystery find a key."

CARD OF THANKS

To the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us in so many ways in our bereavement we wish to return our heartfelt thanks.
R. WESCO and Children.
