DEATH FOUND HIM IN THE ACT OF DOING KIND DEED

Sudden death came about 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning to warm hearted, cordial Roy Houvenagle. It was characteristic of him that the last summons should have found him doing a kindness to another.

Roy had driven out in the country Tuesday morning to take Naomi Hendrickson to her school northwest of town. On the way home, a short distance west of the Russell Baggs place, his car stuck in the mud. George Stoker came along in his car and pushed him out, but in doing so the bumpers of the two cars became hooked together.

In an effort to disentangle them, Roy stepped on the bumper of his car and as he stepped off he dropped to the ground unconscious. He was placed in a car and rushed to town, but died just as they reached the paving on West street.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. Chas. R. Rowe were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church. The Elks lodge had charge of the burial ceremonies in Hazelwood cemetery. The pall bearers, all members of the Odd Fellows lodge, were Charles LeRoy, John Jantzen, Jack Walker, Charles Kimball, James McNally and Chal Chancey.

Roy was a veteran automobile salesman. For the past 17 years he had been associated in that capacity with the Hatcher Auto Co. and was a valued and trusted employe. Prior to that he had worked for the Stewart Auto Co. in Gilman. He was 53 years old.

He is survived by his wife.
