EDWARD JAMES FORMER RESIDENT OF CHESTER DIES

Edward A. James passed away in a San Diego hospital Dec. 9, 1942, after a lingering illness of several months. He was born in Chester Center, Ia., on Oct. 16, 1877, the son of Horace A. and Ruth S. James. He leaves to mourn his death, a sister, Mrs. Mary Mowitt of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of this place, three nephews, all of whom reside in California and one niece, who lives in New York.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at four o'clock p.m., at Bradley-Woolman Chapel. The body was cremated and the ashes sent to Grinnell for burial in the family lot. Mr. James had spent the past 34 years in San Diego where he was a well-known contractor and finisher until he suffered ill health a few years ago.
