DEATH SUMMONS MRS. ELIZA TREAT

Eliza Ellen Bucknam was born at Cutler, Maine, September 29, 1836, and died at Grinnell, Iowa, January 20, 1930, aged 93 years, 3 months, and 21 days.

Shortly after her birth, her parents, Samuel and Olive Bucknam, moved to Eastport, Maine. Here, she received her education and was united in marriage to Franklin Treat. A home was established on a little island on Passamaquoddy Bay, known as Treat's Island. Four children were born of this union, two of whom died in childhood. Those surviving are Mrs. Ethel M. Stewart of Grinnell, and Forrest S. Treat of Bettendorf.

The subject of this sketch came to Grinnell with her parents, Captain and Mrs. Samuel Bucknam in 1874 and has resided here continuously since, occupying this same house at 1007 Spring Street, where she died.

The funeral service was conducted by O.G. Colegrove, Pastor of the Universalist Church of Mitchellville, of which Mrs. Treat had long been a member.
