MRS. CATHERINE HORAK

Catherine Bednar was born in Bohemia, August 23, 1845 and passed away at her home on Eleventh Avenue, February eleventh, 1921, at the age of seventy-six years, five months, and nineteen days. She came to America in 1863 and lived in or near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1864 she was united in marriage to Daniel Horak who passed from this life, Feb. 8, 1915. To this union were born ten children. The family came to Grinnell in 1890. Since the death of the husband Mrs. Horak has lived with a daugther, Mrs. Agnes Penfield. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a kind neighbor. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her so well. She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons, Charles R. of Grinnell, and John W. of Lisbon, Iowa, and three daughters, Mrs. Agnes Penfield and Mrs. Fannie Hoffman, of Grinnell and Mrs. Mary Vaughn, of Linden, Idaho, also fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Horak lived a long and useful life and leaves many warm friends to mourn her death.
