RITES HELD FOR MRS. HARRISON

Mabel A. Harrison, 82, of the New Sharon Care Center, formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday morning, Sept. 23, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Revs. Allyson and Peter Sawtell of the Newburg-Chester parish, United Church of Christ, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and vocalist was Norma Weaver. Pallbearers were Morris Altemeier, Dan Harrison, Jeff Harrison, John Harrison, Harold McCulloch, Virgil Palmer, Clarence Sears and Charles Smith. Flower bearers were Clara Campbell and Dora Schultz. Burial was at the Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

The daughter of Frank N. and Hattie Bacon Wesco, she was born Oct. 23, 1899, at Grinnell. She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1919 and later attended Iowa State University.

She was married to Ivan Harrison in 1930 at her parents home in Chester Township. The couple farmed in the Chester and Newburg areas. Mr. Harrison died in 1938, and she continued to live on the family farm until moving to Grinnell in 1953.

Mrs. Harrison was employed in the dietary departments at the former St. Francis and Grinnell General hospitals for over 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Rebekah Lodge and the D.A.R.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Harrison of Parker, Colo., and Bill Harrison of Nogales, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers.
