VELMA A. PEFFERMAN
Velma A. Pefferman, 76, of Grinnell died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at her home.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Jasch, pastor, officiating. Organist was Margaret Amo and vocalist was Sherry Baehr. Casket bearers were Jim, Tom, Tim, Todd, Brad and Nick Pefferman, Tom Simpson and Rod Criss. Honorary bearers were Melissa Criss, Tisha and Anjelia Pefferman and Kristin Simpson. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Hospice or St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Ringsted to Peter and Clara Jacobsen Hansen. She graduated on June 18, 1945, from Seneca Consolidated High School in Fenton. She was married on Aug. 17, 1947, in Ringsted to Joe Pefferman. The couple lived in Estherville, then moved in 1955 to Grinnell where she assisterd her husband with operation of the Grinnell Produce Company until the business was sold. She also worked at the former United Food Store and in the fountain at the former Cunningham Drug Store. Following her retirement, she did baby-sitting in her home.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter Darla Simpson of Grinnell; three sons, Jim Pefferman of Joplin, Mo., Tim Pefferman of Marshalltown and Tom Pefferman of Bella Vista, Ark.; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two brothers, Arnold Hansen of Fenton and Arlowe Hansen of Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother (something might be cut off..?)
