AN OBITUARY OF MRS. MARGARET FOSTER BURCH

Mrs. Margaret Foster Burch aged 71 years, 11 months and one day, of this city, passed away at her home, early Friday morning June 15, 1934, after a short illness.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. William Welsh. Music was rendered by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Howard Hyde, Mrs. John Carter, Mr. Edward Bohstedt, Jr. and Mr. W.G. Greenwald. They sang three songs, "In The Garden," "Good Morning Up There," and "Going Down the Valley." They were accompanied on the organ by Miss Garber. Mrs. Clyde Foster and Mrs. Stacy Jordan assisted with the flowers. Interment was in the family lot at Hazelwood.

Mrs. Burch was the daughter of Thomas and Barbara Foster. She was born in Scott county, near Davenport, Iowa, on July 14,1862. She was a member of a family of eleven children. In her girlhood she united with the M.E. church in Scott county.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Herbert A. Burch on Jan. 19, 1881. Three children were born to this union, two sons, Chester H. and Arthur Foster, and a daughter, Amy, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Burch had made her home in and around Grinnell for the past 33 years. She was loved by all who knew her. She was always happy doing for her family and others.

On March 24th, 1923, her husband, Mr. Herbert A. Burch, passed away. Since then she continued to live quietly in her home alone, friendly, interested and active so far as her health and strength permitted.

Mrs. Burch leaves to mourn the loss, her two sons, Chester and Arthur and their wives, three grandchildren, Ruth, Beverley and Donald. Brothers and sisters surviving her are Mrs. Ralph Sherman, of Grinnell, Clyde Foster of Chester, Russell Foster of California, J.E. Foster of Illinois and Mrs. Mary Ballenger of Montana. Also other relatives and a host of friends remain to mourn the loss.

Preceding her in death, her husband, two brothers, namely Clifford Foster and B.W. Foster and three sisters--Martha who died in infancy and Mrs. Bertha Fuller and Mrs. Effie Steward; also a daughter, Amy. Also one granddaughter, Irene Louise Burch.

"Our mother's place is vacant,
And our hearts are sad tonight.
But her trials here are ended,
She has entered the portals of
light.
She has entered the heavenly por-
tal
And is with the blood-washed
throng;
She is with her blessed Savious
Whom she has loved so long."

Serving as pall bearers were Clyde Foster, J.E. Foster, Ralph Sherman, P.Y. Fuller, Bert Whittaker and J.N. Hartzell.

Greenwald, Mrs. Chster Humphrey, Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Foster, all of Newburg; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Foster and Wanda, Mr. Earl Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Sevenbergen, all of Kellogg; Mr. and Mrs. William Erwin of Laurel; Mr. and Mrs. Clate Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Miller of Montezuma; Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Burch, Mr. and Mrs. John Furst, all of Malcom; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Burch of Brooklyn; Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Foster, Mr. and Mrs Lyle Foster of New Brooklyn, Illinois; Mr. Keith Foster of Searsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Priebe of Des Moines.
