FLORENCE TINKLE SERVICES HELD
Florence Tinkle, age 41, the wife of Bill Tinkle of Route 4, Grinnell, passed away on Friday morning at Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
The daughter of Joe E. and Blanche Wendell Hawkins, she was born on September 9, 1925, at Marengo, Iowa. She attended the public schools of Marengo and on January 26, 1945, she was united in marriage with Bill Tinkle at Marengo. Following their marriage they farmed in the Brooklyn community and for the past 10 years they have farmed in the Ewart community, southeast of Grinnell.
She was a member of the Blue Point Friendship Club.
She is survived by her husband Bill, a son Billy age 11, at home, and her daughter Judy, Mrs. Roger Smith of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Jolene and Bryan Smith; her mother, Mrs. Blanche Hawkins of Cedar Rapids; her sisters, Beatrice DeLung of Cedar Rapids, Betty Kopf of Cedar Rapids; Helen Brown of Marengo, and Frances Maschmann of Brooklyn; her three brothers, Raymond Hawkins of Brooklyn, Richard Hawkins of Vandenburg Air Force Base in California, and Clarence Hawkins of Vinton, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe E. Hawkins, in March of 1957.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tinkle were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. Ercil J. Craven pastor of the Oak Grove Friends church, officiated and interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Brooklyn, Iowa.
Organist was Kathleen Heffner and the vocalist, Mrs. Noel Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Boget and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Koger were on the flower committee. Pallbearers were Raymond Koger, Lavene Kline, Dale Emmert, Ray Tokle, Lyle Stahl, and Virgil Stanley.
