ALFRED ROBEY

Alfred Robey, 82, of Rte. 1, Malcom, died Wednesday, March 21, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn, with Dennis Smith, minister of the Madison Church of Christ, officiating. Organist was Sybil Kelley.

Pallbearers were Joe Claeys, Rod Robey, Dan Robey, Dave Robey, Larry Vogel and Jerry Johnson. Honorary bearers were Melvin Hohl, Virgil Adams, Jerry Chedester and Gerald Foster.

Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of T.A. and Dora Francis Robey, he was born Dec. 20, 1907, on a farm north of Malcom. He received his education in rural school. He worked for farmers for several years, then farmed north of Malcom until 1984.

He was married to Mary Ann McSwiggin Aug. 14, 1936, in Victor.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Atlantic City, N.J., and John of Brooklyn; two daughters, Patricia Claeys of Iowa City and Sarah of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and seven sisters.
