RITES HELD FOR HAROLD MICHAEL
Harold E. Michael, 56, of Brooklyn died late Wednesday afternoon at his home of an apparent heart attack.
The son of Fred Albert and Blanche Hudson Michael, he was born Dec. 24, 1916, near Grinnell. He lived all his life in Poweshiek County except for two years spent with the U.S. Army during World War II. Since 1946, he has been employed as a shop mechanic with the county.
On Sept. 30, 1940, he was married to the former Norma Hiner in Hamilton, Mo. The couple had one son and one daughter.
He was a member of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294 and the Knights of Pythias.
Mr. Michael is survived by his wife Norma; one son, Ronny of Covina, Calif., a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Nancy) Weir of LaPuente, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Blanche Michael of Brooklyn; a sister, Mrs. Patrick (Ruth) Kelly of Paramount, Calif.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1955.
Funeral services for Mr. Michael were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn, with the Rev. J. Arthur Eveland officiating.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn.
