WILLIAM R. REDIGER DIES SUDDENLY AT HOME THIS MORNING

William Rex Rediger, 57, of Oakland Acres west of Grinnell, died suddenly at his home this morning (Thursday).

Requiem Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic church here with the Rev. L.V. Kuebrich, pastor, officiating. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.

He was the son of William and Ethel Hicks Rediger and was born Dec. 16, 1908, at Meadows, Ill. He attended the local schools of Pontiac and Bloomington, Ill,. and graduated from Bloomington high school. He then attended the Utilities Engineer Institute in Chicago.

On Sept. 9, 1933, he was united in marriage with Katherine Green at Wapella, Ill. To this union were born two sons and two daughters, all surviving: William Eugene Rediger of Dyersville, Mrs. David (Mary Kay) Ashburn of Springfield, Mo., Elizabeth Ann Rediger of Iowa City, and Michael Anthony Rediger of Grinnell.

In addition to his widow Katherine and his children, Mr. Rediger is survived by three grandchildren--Jeff, Kathy and Laurie Rediger of Dyersville; one brother, Alvin Rediger of Pontiac, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Henry (Bernice) Hosenic of Bloomington, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

In 1941 he was employed as a switchboardman with the Illinois Central Telephone Co. at Clinton, Ill. In 1949 he was appointed district manager of the Dyersville office for the Iowa Telephone and Telegraph Co. After the organization of the General Telephone Co. in Iowa in 1957, he served as district plant supervisor at Nevada, Iowa. In 1958 he held the position of division supply supervisor at Columbus, Neb.

He and his family moved from Columbus to Grinnell in September of 1961 where he held the position of accountant with General Telephone Co.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Grinnell.
