MRS. INA BOYD

Funeral services for Mrs. Ina (Woodrow) Boyd, 65, of Brooklyn, were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23 in the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Mrs. Boyd died Wednesday night, July 20, 1988, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Rev. Lynn Williams officiated and the organist was Mrs. Nina Bartachek. Flower attendants were Mrs. Ruby Keller, Mrs. Hazel Breniman, and Mr. and Mrs. George Henle. Casket-bearers were Robert Boyd, Roger Hopwood, Ronald Brown, Richard Kirby, Dennis Kirby, and Gerald Duncan. Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

A memorial has been established in her name for (the American) Cancer Society.

Nevenhoven Funeral Home of Brooklyn was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ina Mae Johnson Boyd, daughter of Ray and Gussie Stephens Johnson, was born February 13, 1923, in rural Montezuma, Ia., and died Wednesday night, July 20, 1988, in Mercy Hospital, Iowa City Ia., at the age of 65 years.

Mrs. Boyd received her education in rural schools of Grinnell and Malcom and Montezuma School. She worked in various restaurants as a cook and for one year in the Brooklyn School.

She was united in marriage to Woodrow Boyd on February 24, 1941, in Newton, Ia. They lived in Ewart and Deep River before moving to Brooklyn 32 years ago.

Mrs. Boyd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn and Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294 Auxiliary.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by her husband, Woodrow; three daughters, Shirley, Mrs. Ronald Messamer of Adel, Beverly Boyd of Des Moines, and Linda, Mrs. Brad Mullen of Brooklyn; three brothers, Farrell Johnson of Montezuma, Gerald Johnson of Newhall, and Raymond Johnson of Ripley, W.Va.; five sisters, Doris, Mrs. Louis Brown of Malcom, Betty, Mrs. Robert Harbert of Stockton, Ill., Marlys, Mrs. Vaughn Hopwood of Deep River, Marveen, Mrs. Keith Wilson of Iowa City, and Louise, Mrs. Tom Saunders of Springfield, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Carmen Johnson, and three sisters, Elaine Kirby and two infant sisters.
