JOHN BOYD SERVICES
JAN. 25 AT BROOKLYN
BURIAL AT EWART

Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at Bramers Funeral Home for John Boyd, 55, long time Brooklyn resident.

Boyd apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Sheriff Wiley Taylor. Boyd's body was found on the Charles Jones farm, 1-1/4 miles north of the Madison Church of Christ.

Officials said Boyd had been despondent over poor health. He had been renting a room at the Ira Henry residence and did not use the room Tuesday night. Taylor said Boyd's car was parked in the area and his body was found in a nearby field.

Kenneth Siemens of the Madison Church of Christ had charge of the rites and burial was in the Ewart cemetery. Bearers were Carl and Delmar Carter, Glenn Mowrey, Earl Wheeler, Forrest Breniman and J.L. (Roy) McCluskey.

John Henry Boyd, son of John and Eliza Boyd, was born July 6, 1912. He grew to manhood in the Ewart community and in later years moved to the Brooklyn community where he lived with the Ed Carter family.

He served in the armed forces during World War II and was a member of the First Presbyterian church at Ewart.

He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1955. Survivors include his mother, Eliza; one sister, Mrs. Chester Conger; two brothers, Woodrow of Brooklyn, and Warren of Grinnell.
