MARY MUCKLER RITES TODAY

Mary Muckler, 79, of 90 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Thursday, Nov. 29, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Lott of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud and pallbearers will be James Ahrens, John Ahrens, Paul Ahrens, Richard Ahrens, John Nolan Jr., Duane Muckler, David Palmer and Lyle Phipps. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman.

Memorials in Mrs. Muckler's name may be made to the American Heart Association.

The daughter of John and Mary Badger Ahrens, she was born June 22, 1905, at Chamberlain, S.D. In 1910, the family moved to a farm northwest of Grinnell, and she attended Grinnell schools, graduating from Newburg High School in 1922.

On June 20, 1925, she was married to Irvin Muckler at Iowa City. The family farmed in the Newburg and Grinnell areas. Mrs. Muckler was a charter member of the Chester Royal Grange and had attended the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Thompson of Marshalltown and Lyle Muckler and Nancy Kunce, both of Grinnell; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Fanton of Gilman, Katherine Cummings and Esther Wray, both of Grinnell and Billie Nolan of Sylvania, Ohio; and three brothers, Claude, Carl and Donald Ahrens, all of Grinnell.
