RITES CONDUCTED SATURDAY FOR CARRIE PILGRIM, 81

Carrie Pilgrim, 81, Grinnell, died at a local hospital Thursday afternoon following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Leland Mann officiating. Soloist was Mrs. Dolph Miller and organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Charles Hink, Howard Sage, Ross Coutts, Eugene Freeborn, Croft Pilgrim and Fred Weber. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

The daughter of T.G. and Elizabeth Clark Pilgrim, she was born on Sept. 20th, 1877 at Rock Island, Ill. At the age of six she moved with her parents to Grinnell and had made her home here.

She graduated from the Grinnell public schools in 1894 and was employed at the Grinnell Bindery, the Rapson and Moyle grocery store, and the Lynch Variety store.

Miss Pilgrim was a 50 year member of the Congregational church and the Rest and Recreation club.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Hattie Bacon of Grinnell, and her brother, Harry Pilgrim of Salinas, Calif. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
