FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. PILGRIM

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Pilgrim were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.H. Bacon, on Tuesday afternoon in charge of the Rev. George Blagg, assisted by Dr. W.W. Bolt. The hymns, "Beautiful Isle," "My Father Knows" and "In the Garden" were sung by Mrs. J.S. McCuniff and Mrs. Roscoe Dempster. The pall bearers were Messrs. J.H. Mehlin, C.D. Bonyata, E.D. Forehand, C.O. Parmley, A.H. Dempster and N.O. Pilgrim. Burial was made in Hazelwood.

Mrs. Pilgrim was born in St. Louis, Mo. May 12, 1845, and passed away Sunday, November 17, 1929, in the eighty-fifth year of her age. She had been confined to her bed for several months but in it all was patient and sweet. The tender care given by her loved ones was greatly appreciated. Her gentle spirit and kindly ways made her many friends, who feel her departure keenly and yet realize that, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." She was united in marriage with Mr. T.G. Pilgrim at Rock Island, Ill. Nov. 26, 1868 and for nearly fifty-eight years they walked life's way together. Five children were born to them, three daughters and two sons. They are, Mrs. Will Hafkey, Gilman; Mrs. A.H Bacon, and Miss Carrie Pilgrim, Grinnell; Harry C. Pilgrim, Omaha and Will Pilgrim, Leavenworth, Kansas. One half brother, Mr. George Kahl of Booneville, Mo., also mourns her decease.

In the days of her strength, Mrs. Pilgrim was an outstanding woman. Gentle and earnest in disposition she was still a hard worker for her family and friends and gave much to the world in the way of effective service. Only kind words could be spoken of her in her family and in the community. A lover of educaton she with her husband gave to their children the best they could afford and all have filled useful positions in life. It is with sincere regret that many of us note the death of this esteemed woman.

Those from out of town present at the funeral were Mrs. Rosie Weiss, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Winans, Mrs. Walter Sanderson, Miss Emma Sanderson of Rock Island, Illinois, Mrs. Mary Jaenike of Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. Harry Cavell and daughter of Laurel, Mrs. Eloisa Byers of Brooklyn, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pilgrim of Omaha and Mr. Donald Bacon of Centerville, Iowa.
