LIPPINCOTT SERVICES HELD

Homer Lippincott, 82, of 1014 High St., Grinnell, died Friday morning at his home of an apparent heart atttack.

Funeral services for Mr. Lippincott were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, officiating. Organist was Naomi Reaves. Pallbearers were Eugene Heinle, Gary Killion, Gary McCammant, Dale Lippincott, Dean Lippincott, and Don Souter. Graveside rites were conducted by members of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of William and Ellen Mary Monk Lippincott, he was born Nov. 10, 1896, at Cedar Bluffs. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I and was discharged on March 21, 1919.

He came to Grinnell from Brooklyn in 1938 and was employed by the Maytag Co. and Ahrens Manufacturing Co. He also worked for 10 years at Grinnell College in the Buildings and Grounds Department. He was a member of the Francis Gallagher American Legion Post at Brooklyn.

Survivors include his children, Donald Lippincott of Sarasota, Fla., Roger Lippincott and New Orleans, La., Jerri Lippincott of Austin, Tex., and Mrs. Erma Jean McKenna of St. Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Bryan (Mary) Davis of Grinnell and Mrs. Grace Caughey of Aurora, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Johnson; four brothers, Bert, Ray, Robert and James Lippincott; and two sisters, Dora and Lena.
