CAROLYN BEASON

Carolyn V. Beason, 73, of 602 Fourth Ave. E., Oskaloosa, died Monday, Feb. 8, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with burial in Forest Cemetery there.

She was born July 27, 1925, in Dows to Floyd and Vena Ritter State. She grew up in Grinnell and was a 1943 graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to Donald E. Beason June 30, 1945, in San Diego, Calif. Mrs. Beason served as director of homemaker health aid in Oskaloosa from 1979 to 1990. She also was a volunteer for AARP and the Iowa Department of Human Services. She was an active Mahaska County Democrat for the past 20 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa.

Surviving are her husband; four children, Russell of Muskogee, Okla.; Cathy Walker of Chicago, Laura Goedeken of Ames and Dot McCann of Pella; four grandchildren; two brothers, George State of Oceanside, Calif., and Douglas State of Kearney, Neb.; and one sister, Dorothy Murphy of Jefferson City, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna; and two brothers, Wendall and Russell State.
