FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ALLEN CROOKS HELD SATURDAY

Funeral services for Allen Edward Crooks, who died Wednesday night in the University hospital in Iowa City following an operation, were held at the James funeral home Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. W.F. Overhulser. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Larsen. Pallbearers wer Dale Stowe, Joe Dykstra, Ernest Badger, Jerome Slebiska, Frank Eisele and James Reagen. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Allen Edward Crooks, son of Jesse Crooks and Mrs. Fern Mowitt, was born in Grinnell, March 1, 1907, and died Sept. 21, in the University hospital in Iowa City at the age of 42 years. He was united in marriage to Hazel Pickering Webb, April 15, 1933.

He lived in Grinnell all of his life except from June, 1940, to Sept., 1943, when he lived in West Liberty and Brooklyn. He had been employed as foreman of maintenance and ways by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific railroad for the past 28 years.

Mr. Crooks is survived by his wife and stepson, James Webb, his father and mother, and one brother, Glenn Crooks of Melcher.

He was a member of the First Methodist church and the Elks lodge of Grinnell.
