GERALD A. HEITINK

Gerald A. (Jerry) Heitink, 69, Atlantic, formerly of Grinnell, died Saturday, May 22, in Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 25, in the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic with the Rev. Charles J. Downing, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in the Atlantic Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Lynnville, the son of Gerrit M. and Mary Belle Brush Heitink. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1942 and served in the United States Army. Following military service, he was employed at Allis Chalmers and Pierce Implement before moving to Atlantic in 1963 where he worked for Larson and Lowers. For the past six years he has been employed by Southwest Iowa Planning Council and driving its transit bus

He was married on June 15, 1950, to Jean Vanderlinden in Grinnell.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge, both in Atlantic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jean and a son Douglas. He is survived by two daughters Becky Kramer, Sioux City, and Denise Masker, Atlantic; eight grandchildren; one sister Rosalie Hartzell, Grinnell, and a special friend, Dora Lea Jensen, Cumberland.
