YOUNG MAN PASSES AWAY

Young Christian Farmer of Madison Laid to Rest in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

William Nicholas Fogel, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Fogel, was born in Sheridan township, Poweshiek county, July 14, 1887. He was baptized in infancy. At the age of 11 he with his two sisters, Theresa and Mary, were left orphans. Theresa died the year of 1909, leaving Willie and Mary alone. He was joined in wedlock in 1911 with Miss Marie Puls. The young couple went to housekeeping on their own farm, where he proved a good neighbor and an industrious farmer.

In August, 1914, Willie was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran church and was a faithful member of both Sunday school and church. He never failed to be present on such occasions and took an active part. Everywhere only good words were spoken of him as was shown by the many beautiful flowers that were sent to the home on Wednesday morning, October 16. Willie was taken sick with pneumonia. The following week on Wednesday morning he realized tht the end was near. He prepared himself to meet his Saviour. He prayed for all the mothers and little children in this Great War, for all of his relatives and friends and asked God to care for his beloved wife who is left to go on alone in the world. On Thursday morning at 7:25 o'clock, he peacefully went to sleep in the arms of Jesus, reaching the age of 31 years, 3 months and 10 days.

The funeral services were held Monday, October 28, at two o'clock, at the Trinity Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. D. Biermann, and the remains were laid to rest at that place. To mourn the loss of this good man there remains his loving wife, a sister, Mrs. Mary Puls, half-sister Louise Roth and stepmother and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ackerson,of Janesville, Ia., Mrs. John Closson of Princeton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jentzen of Marshalltown, Ia., were the out-of-town relatives present.

Pallbearers were six brothers-in-law of the deceased.
