SERVICES HELD FOR MR. MARON

Dale E. Maron, 63, of No. 6 Greenbriar, Council Bluffs, formerly of Grinnell, died of cancer Monday, Sept. 12, at Indian Hills Care Center in Council Bluffs.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cutler Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, with graveside services held at 3 p.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

The Rev. Raymond C. Lott of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiated. Military rites were conducted by members of the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Memorials in Mr. Maron's name may be left at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The son of Arthur E. and Della Elizabeth Larison Maron, he was born Jan. 27, 1925, at Dolliver, Iowa. He came with his family to Grinnell in 1938, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1942. During World War II he served as a staff sergeant in the 410th Infantry, 103rd Division, in the European Theater. He received a Purple Heart medal for wounds he suffered in action.

He was married to Metta Marie Mehaffey, Aug. 29, 1948, in Grinnell. Mr. Maron attended Central College and Grinnell College, graduating from Drake University College of Law in 1950. The couple lived in Clinton and Mason City before moving to Council Bluffs in 1954.

Mr. Maron was a trust officer with State Bank and Trust in Council Bluffs until 1983. He was a member of the Iowa Bar Association, the Southwest Iowa Bar Association, and the Pottawattamie County Bar Association; past president of the Council Bluffs Rotary Club; a member of the Elks Lodge; a director of the Pottawattamie Mental Health Association; past president of the United Fund campaign; a member of the advisory board of Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs; vice president and trustee of the Council Bluffs Public Library; campaign chairman of the American Cancer Society fund drive; vice president of the Chamber of Commerce; and a member of the board of directors of the Family Services Association.

Following the death of his wife Metta in 1982, he was married to Roberta Ozeydin March 17, 1984, in Council Bluffs.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, David of Council Bluffs, Dennis of Aurora, Colo., and William of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; his mother, Della Maron of Grinnell; a brother, Robert E. of Oakland, Calif.; and one sister, Donna J. Puls of Grinnell.
