S. WAYNE TONE, 46, DIES IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 21, at the First Christian Church in Cedar Rapids for S. Wayne Tone, 46, former Grinnell resident, who died suddenly Friday evening, Sept. 18, at his home in Cedar Rapids of a heart attack.

The Rev. John M. Hardy officiated at the services. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials in Mr. Tone's name be made to the building fund of the First Christian Church.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Abner Tone, Mr. Tone was born June 9, 1924 in Grinnell, Iowa.

On March 27, 1954, Mr. Tone married Marilyn Yeager at Fairfield, Iowa. For the past 15 years he had been a resident of Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Tone served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed by Collins Radio Company of Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Tone was a member of the First Christian Church of Cedar Rapids and had been serving that church as chairman of the board of elders. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias.

Survivors include two sons--Michael Alan and Philip Eric Tone, both of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Mrs. Abner Tone of Grinnell; and three sisters--Avis M. Tone, Eleanor J. Tone and Martha M. Tone, all of Grinnell.

Mr. Tone was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn on Dec. 24, 1964, and his father, Abner Tone, on Dec. 23, 1962.
