RITES HELD FOR JESSE C. LORD

Jesse C. Lord, 103, of Grinnell died Monday, April 21, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Westfield Church south of Grinnell, with the Rev. Keith Briggs, pastor of the First Friends Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Harold Brown, Bob Dale, Henry Krumm, John Krumm, Harold Lord, Jim Peak, Martin Pearce and Willard Wells. Honorary bearers were Russell, Robert, Ronald, David and Paul Lord. Pianist was Laura Lord Oliver and vocalist was Rita Lincoln.

Burial was in the Westfield Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Westfield Church or the First Friends Church.

The son of Charles O. and Caroline Brownell Lord, he was born on July 14, 1882, near Grinnell. He attended rural school. Mr. Lord was married to Elizabeth Lincoln at her parents home in Grinnell and the couple farmed in the Westfield community.

He was a charter member of the Westfield Grange. He was also a member of the Westfield Church and helped with the church's construction in 1902.

Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Charles Lord of Woodman, Wis., Alfred Lord of Ilwaco, Wash., and the Rev. Howard Lord of Gladbrook; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1937 and one brother George.
