MARY BUCK

Mary F. Hannay Buck, 106, of the Mayflower Health Care Center died of pneumonia Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Her body has been donated to medical science. Private services will be held at a later date.

She was born March 10, 1889, at Evergreen Hill farm north of Grinnell and was the daughter of Edward and Hannah Mann Dunham. Her girlhood years were spent in Iowa and northern Arkansas where she attended local schools. She was on the girls' basketball team at Gilmore City in 1905.

She was married to John G. Hannay in 1919, and the couple farmed in the Grinnell area until Mr. Hannay's death in 1955. In 1957, she was married to Ben Buck of Grinnell. They lived on a farm north of Grinnell until Mr. Buck's death in 1973. She then returned to her farm south of Grinnell.

Mrs. Buck was a homemaker and a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational.

Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Hamor of Lincoln, Neb.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two brothers, Dwight and Robert; and one son, Edward Hannay.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the United Church of Christ-Congregational, or to the Mayflower.
