ERWIN WANG DIES; SERVICES THURSDAY

Erwin Wang,72, of 915 Summer St., Grinnell, a prominent Malcom area farmer before his retirement, died Saturday morning at Doctors Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He and his wife had been in Phoenix for the last 18 days, where they made their winter home, when his health failed.

Mr. Wang was born July 19, 1895, in Illinois, the son of Knute and Anna Erickson Wang. The family moved to Grinnell when he was at an early age, and he attended the local schools of Grinnell.

On April 2, 1922, at Tama, Iowa, he was married to Frances Musel, and to this union was born one son: Gerald Wang presently farming at Route 2, Malcom.

In addition to his wife, Frances, and son, Gerald, he is survived by three grandchildren, Pamela Gay, Jerri Lou, and James Todd Wang, all at their home near Malcom. He is also survived by several cousins.

Mr. Wang had farmed in the Malcom area until his retirement. He and Mrs. Wang then moved to Grinnell to make their home, and had only recently gone to Phoenix, Ariz., for the winter.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1266, all of Grinnell.

Requiem Low Mass for Mr. Erwin Wang will be held 10 a.m., Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. L.V. Kuebrich, pastor of St. Mary's, officiating. Vocal music will be provided by Mrs. Wayne Dayton and Miss Wilma Schultz. Organist will be Miss Mary Ellen Brock. Pallbearers willbe Sherley Eichhorn, A.B. Hamilton, Clayton Phelps, Frank Higdon, Edward McNally and Leo W. Flanagan.

Burial will be in the Calvary section of Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, with Elk fraternal rites conducted at the cemetery by Preston Shaw, exalted ruler, and members of Grinnell Lodge No. 1266, B.P.O.E.

The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 on Wednesday evening, at Smith Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home bginning Tuesday.
