AN OBITUARY NOTICE OF MRS. GEORGE QUIVEY

Emma B. Carter, daughter of Samuel C. and Lydia C. Carter was born April 3, 1871, at Chester Center, Iowa. Both parents preceded her in death, her mother having passed away January 14 of this year. She early in life responded to the Christian influence of the home and when just a girl asked to be admitted to the fellowship of the Presbyterian church. The happy, sympathetic and unselfish disposition of her childhood followed her through life. She received her education in the county and after her graduation she taught in the rural schools. She also taught in Des Moines as a kindergarten teacher.

February 10, 1897 she was united in marriage to George L. Quivey. At this time Mrs. Quivey joined her husband in the Baptist faith. She taught in the junior department of the Sunday school as long as her health permitted. Mr. and Mrs. Quivey lived on the farm near Grinnell till twelve years ago when they moved to this city on account of Mrs. Quivey's failing health.

Mrs. Quivey leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one son, Elmer Quivey of Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. E.T. Rickard of Grinnell and Mrs. Ira Marsh of Iowa City, besides scores of other relatives and friends.
