MRS. W.C. DIMIT REACHES END OF LIFE'S JOURNEY

Christina Charlotte Brown was born in Clinton county, Iowa, Aug. 3, 1858, and passed away July 31 at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 28 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Palmer, at Newburg, after a brief illness of five days.

At the age of two years she with her parents, five sisters and one brother, moved to Tama county, where she grew to womanhood and was married to William C. Dimit on Nov. 30, 1881. They were the parents of seven children, five of whom survive. One son died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Montgomery, died in 1910, at the age of 21 years. With the exception of one year in Dakota, a few years near Haven, 17 years in Tama county, the rest of their married life was spent in Chester and Grinnell, moving to Grinnell in 1909, where she has since resided. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1933.

She was a very devoted wife and mother, always thinking more of her family's welfare than of her own and willing and ready to help her neighbors and friends in time of need.

She was a member of the Sonora Methodist church, later transferring her membership to the Grinnell Methodist church, the services of which she always attended if possible.

Mrs. Dimit especially enjoyed going places, meeting and visiting with her friends, whom she always greeted with a smile and a hearty handshake.

The surviving children are Vestal of Malcom, Mrs. George Palmer of Newburg, Mrs. Marshall Horn of Melbourne, Howard of Grinnell and Raymond of Chicago, also one sister, Johanna Dimit of Grinnell, twenty grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. W. Kight of Des Moines, an old friend of the family and formerly her minister at Sonora. Rev. Charles Rowe assisted.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Walter Horn, Merle Dimit, Clayton Dimit, Kenneth Palmer, Anson Palmer and Virgil Palmer. Mrs. John Carter sang. Interment was at Chester.
