OBITUARY OF W.C. DIMIT

William Cyrene Dimit was born near Washington, Iowa, September 11, 1857 and passed away December 3, 1933, age 76 years, two months and 22 days. He came to Tama county when he was 17 years old. On November 30, 1881 he was united in marriage to Christina Charlotte Brown. To this union seven children were born, five of whom survive with the devoted wife and 20 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The children are Vestal and Howard of Grinnell, Raymond of Chicago, Mrs. Aletha Palmer of Newburg and Mrs. Ethel Horn of Melbourne. One son Merle died in infancy and Mrs. Katherine Montgomery, died in *1909. With the exception of one year in Dakota and a few years near Haven in Tama county, the rest of his married life was spent in Chester and Grinnell. They left Tama county forty-five years ago and Mr. Dimit purchased a farm in Chester township. Twenty-four years ago they moved to Grinnell to make their home. He is the last member of his family. A brother Lisander Dimit and a sister Mrs. Kate Bean passed away a few years ago.

Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Dimit celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day which was a happy occasion.

Mr. Dimit has been in poor health for two years, the last two months being bedfast and death came as a relief. He was a very patient sufferer. He was a member of the Methodist church and was devoted to his christian faith, attending church faithfully until his last illness. He was kindly in his nature and he loved his friends and his friends loved him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church with Rev. H.S. Wilkinson in charge. Two songs were sung by a quartet composed of Laird Jones, E.L. York, Eddie Peterson and A.H. Rumple.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Merle Dimit, Clayton Dimit, Walter Horn, Kenneth, Anson, and Virgil Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers were Martin Eichhorn, R.G. Coutts, Will Alley, Norman Pilgrim, Charles Stanley and G.C. Murray. Interment was at Chester.
