AN OBITUARY NOTICE OF MRS. O.T. CARLSTROM

Alta B. Quivey was born near Grinnell, April 16, 1870, and passed away at a local hospital on January 16, 1936. She attended the Grinnell schools until she was about fifteen years old when she went to Troy, N.Y., where she lived with an aunt and attended school. After about nine years in Troy, she returned to Grinnell and took up nursing. While quite young she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Baptist church.

While living in Troy, she transfered her membership to the Methodist denomination.

One winter while yet in her teens she made and sold popcorn balls and bought the communion set for the church. She lived and died trusting in the resurrection and following in His footsteps.

On March 27, 1901, she was united in marriage to O.T. Carlstrom of Chester. They immediately moved to a farm just north of Grinnell where they lived until about ten years ago when they moved to Grinnell. In August of 1933, Mr. Carlstrom passed away, since when she has made her home with her son, O.H. Carlstrom, of Des Moines. She leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Geo. L. Quivey, of Grinnell, four step-children, besides numerous other relatives and friends. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held on Sunday from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. Charles Rowe. Pall bearers were E.D. Knowles, G.C. Murray, A.C. Jones, John Peterson, Martin Eichhorn and Ed Bohstedt.

The burial was in Hazelwood by the side of her husband.
