LONNIE CHENEY

Lonnie Ray Cheney, 28, of Deep River was killed early Saturday, April 15, in a one-vehicle accident five miles east of Montezuma.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Deep River, with the Rev. Kenneth Wagener officiating. Organist was Brenda Wagener, and pallbearers were Ed Berstler, LaVern Rauch, David Zimmerman, Neil Widmer, Robert Van Zee and John Winegarden. Burial was in Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River, with the Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church.

He was born Aug. 12, 1960, at Fort Campbell, Ky., the son of James R. and Arva L. Schultz Cheney. He graduated from Deep River-Millersburg High School in 1978.

He was married to Jacque Ladeley, June 12, 1981. Mr. Cheney farmed and also worked at Farmhand in Grinnell. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his son, Clayton James Cheney of Grinnell; his parents; two brothers, Wayne of Deep River and Rex of Deep River; two sisters, Marna Montegomery of Brooklyn and Colleen Cheney of Des Moines; and his grandparents, Lewis and Margaret Schultz of Gibson and Kenneth and Duane Cheney of Deep River.
