LOUIS LAMBACK HAFKEY

Louis Lamback Hafkey, son of William C. and Helena Hafkey, was born in Chester township March 10, 1880, and departed this life Feb. 11, 1954, at Community hospital, Grinnell, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, 1 day.

Mr. Hafkey lived most of his life on a farm in Chester township, with the exception of a few years when first married when he lived on a farm south of Grinnell.

In 1947 due to the illness of Mrs. Hafkey, he moved to Grinnell. Although his health prevented him from taking active part, he never lost interest in the farm.

On Christmas eve in 1906, he was united in marriage with Maude Muriel Pugh who passed away in 1950. He also was preceded in death by four brothers--William, Charley, Frank and George; and two sisters--Eva of Grinnell and Matilda of Oakley, Kan.

Mr. Hafkey leaves to mourn his loss one son, Orville, who lives on the home place; two daughters, Louise (Mrs. Raymond Clifton) and Marjorie (Mrs. Ralph Thompson) and one sister, Minnie, all of Grinnell, also six grandchildren, one great-grandson and a number of nephews and nieces.
