MINNIE HAFKEY RITES MONDAY

Minnie M. Hafkey, 96, of Grinnell died Friday Oct. 18, at St. Francis Manor.

Graveside services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the Chester Cemetery, with the Rev. John Epperson of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating. The Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of William and Helena Lambach Hafkey, she was born Feb. 15, 1889, in Chester Township. She was raised on the family farm and attended Chester School. In the early 1900s, the family moved to Grinnell. She had spent her life caring for her family.

There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Will, Charles, Frank, George and Louis Hafkey; and two sisters, Tilla Spangler and Eva Hafkey.
