PIERCE INFANT RITES HELD

Samantha Rae Pierce, three-day-old daughter of Casey and Diane (Harris) Pierce of rural Deep River, died Sunday evening Jan. 4, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

She was born at 1:50 a.m. Jan. 1 at Grinnell General Hospital and was the first baby born in Poweshiek County in 1981.

Services were held Jan. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Steffy's Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Margaret Thiel officiating and burial was at the Golden Rod Cemetery at Deep River.

Survivors include her parents, and a brother Benjamin. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pierce and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Northcutt Jr., all of Deep River, Ronald Harris of Oskaloosa, and a great-grandfather, Harley Hillman of Conway, Ark.

Memorials can be made to Blank Memorial, Iowa Methodist Hospital, NIC Unit (Nursery Intensive Care) Des Moines. Annyone wishing to donate blood may do so, also.
