CLARK E. NORTHCUTT, JR., 79

Clark Earl Northcutt, Jr., age 79, of New Sharon died Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

His funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 25, at the New Sharon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Glesener officiating. Interment followed at Stewart Cemetery near New Sharon. Harden Funeral Home at New Sharon was in charge of the arrangements.

Clark E. Northcutt Jr., was born Nov. 5, 1923, near Taintor to Clark Earl and Susa Kathleen Hull Northcutt. He attended Ludwick School south of Lynnville, graduated from Lynnville High School in 1941 and attended Central College at Pella. He married Betty Anthony June 5, 1943. They were later divorced. Jr. was united in marriage to Barb Harris Sept. 18, 1965, at New Sharon. He had his own cream route for several years delivering to the Sully Creamery. He was a hog buyer and manager for Farmland Industries at Deep River from 1967 until his retirement in 1988. A New Sharon resident since 1991, Jr. had volunteered at the Capri Threater in New Sharon and the congregate meal site. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and trips to Minnesota.

Jr.'s memory is honored by his wife Barb of New Sharon, his two sons, Randy Northcutt and special friend Bill Surbrug of Newton and Greg Northcutt and wife Becky of Montezuma; his four daughters, Sheila Clubb and husband John of Sigourney, Barbara Echelberry and husband Stanley of rural Hedrick, Diana Harris and special friend Claude Thomas of Parrish, Alabama and Rhonda Harris and fiance' Mike Mott of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Gordon Northcutt of Lynnville and Vernon Northcutt and wife Bonnie of New Sharon; two sisters, Anna McDowell of Searsboro and Voyian Richards of Mondovi, Wis., 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Erlyne DeJong; three brothers, Lowell, Carl and Robert Northcutt and granddaughter Samantha Pierce.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
