MARILYN HAYES RITES FRIDAY

Mrs. Marilyn Ruth Parmley Hayes, 45, wife of William R. Hayes of Des Moines, died Monday evening at her home.

The daughter of Cassius A. and Belva V. Johnson Parmley, she was born Feb. 7, 1927 at Grinnell. She attended local schools and was graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1945. She married William R. Hayes at Montezuma May 22, 1963.

Mrs. Hayes had been a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and had belonged to several professional women's organizations, having worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines the past 21 years.

She is survived by her husband William; her mother, Mrs. Belva Parmley of Grinnell; her sister, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Duncan of Grinnell; her grandmother, Mrs. Olen (Carrie) Parmley of Grinnell; two nieces, Susan Duncan of Grinnell and Nancy Murphy of West Des Moines; and three nephews, Brian Duncan of Carlisle, Cal Duncan of Grinnell, and John Duncan II of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her father in 1940 and one sister, Doris Jean Parmley, in infancy.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Eugene Young, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Willard Heffner, organist, and Mrs. Wayne Dayton, vocalist.

Flowerbearers will be Mrs. Max Hill and Mrs. Laird Wray. Pallbearers will include Brian Duncan, Cal Duncan, John Duncan II, Lloyd Larsen, Rex McDowell, and Vincent Pulkrabek.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
