BELVA PARMLEY RITES CONDUCTED
Belva V. Parmley, 79, of Grinnell died Saturday, Jan. 16, at St. Francis Manor.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. James P. Russell, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Lloyd Larsen, Max Lincoln, Paul Hamor, Max Hill, Hollis Parmley and Earl Reedy. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.
Memorials in Mrs. Parmley's name may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church and may be sent to the Smith Funeral Home.
The daughter of John E. and Edith Wood Johnson, she was born May 10, 1902, in the Blue Point community southeast of Grinnell. She attended rural school and later graduated from Grinnell High School.
On March 14, 1925, she was married to Cassius A. Parmley at Newton. The couple lived in Grinnell following their marriage.
Mrs. Parmlely is survived by four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Blanche McDowell of Waterloo and Ruth Lincoln of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three daughters, Marilyn Hayes, Bonnie Duncan and Doris Jean Parmley; a brother, Carl R. Johnson; and a sister, Gladys Johnson.
