GERTRUDE DAVIS

Gertrude Mae Davis, 81, of St. Francis Manor died Monday, Sept. 14, at the manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Malcom Presbyterian Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Ed and Paul Brown; Jamie, Jeff, Justin, Ronnie and Tim Davis; and Ray Wolver. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The daughter of Thomas and Olive Moore Brown, she was born May 4, 1911, in Searsboro. She attended school in Searsboro, Albia and Grinnell.

She was married to Van E. Davis, Dec. 24, 1928, in Montezuma. The couple lived in Grinnell where they operated several businesses.

Mrs. Davis is survived by five sons, Van Jr. of Grinnell, James of Pineville, Mo., Leo of Kent, Wash., John of Grinnell and Steve of Bloomington, Ill.; two sisters, Mildred Ryan of Grinnell and Frances Dickson of Woodland Hills, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers.
