RITES TODAY FOR MRS. PLAYLE

Genevieve Playle, 69, of 802 Park St., Grinnell, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 15, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church of Grinnell, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were John Davis, Steve Davis, Van Davis Jr., Eddie Brown, Paul Brown, Robert Lender, Bill Werneberg Jr. and Bill Noel. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Mrs. Playle's name may be made to Grinnell General Hospital and left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of Earl and Olive Moore Brown, she was born Sept. 21, 1913, at Searsboro. She lived there and in Albia before coming to Grinnell, where she attended school.

She was married to Charles Raymond Playle on Sept. 8, 1929, at Marshalltown. Mrs. Playle was employed for many years at Bates Flowers and also had worked for the Morrison-Shults Glove Factory and DeLong Jacket Factory.

She is survived by her son, Maj. Thomas E. Playle, U.S.A.F. (ret.), of San Antonio, Texas; three grandsons; and four sisters, Mae Davis, Nadine Werneberg and Mildred Ryan, all of Grinnell, and Frances Dickson of Woodland Hills, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977, her parents, and two brothers, Russell and Ralph Brown.
