MILDRED RYAN
Mildred "Midge" Ryan, 68, of Papillion, Neb., and formerly of Grinnell died Nov. 28, 2007, at her home.
Funeral services for Mildred Ryan were held today (Monday) at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Len Eberhart officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers included Ken Anderson, Ken Clark, John, Ron and Steve Davis and Don Pedersen. Honorary bearers included Danielle Anderson, Mindy Clark, Monique Dewey, Von Dewey, Rob, Jamie and Shane Lender, Brad and David Noel and Susan Yarolem. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Lott, retired, officiating.
Born March 13, 1921, in Searsboro, she was the daughter of Thomas Earl and Olive Frances Moore Brown. She was raised in Grinnell and attended school here.
In 1937, she married Walter Dewey in Grinnell. The couple later divorced and she married Wilbur Phil Ryan Jr. in West Des Moines. They made their home in Ankeny and Keokuk. Following the death of her second husband in 1962, she returned to Grinnell.
She worked at GTE until 1985 and then as bookkeeper at Grinnell Beverage until 2000. She also managed Classic Car Wash in Grinnell for years.
In 2000, she moved to Omaha.
She is survived by two children, Judy Noel of Davenport and Marcee Pedersen of Papillion; a sister, Frances Dixon of California; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Gary Dewey; a grandson, Shane Lender; three sisters, May Davis, Genevieve Playle and Nadine Werneburg; and two brothers, Ralph and Russell Brown.
